About us

Investing in the latest technology and machinery

We invest in state-of-the-art machinery and technology to give our customers the most advanced, cost-effective solutions in design, fabrication and manufacturing. The latest precision plasma, laser and CNC cutting technologies raise our engineering capabilities to the highest levels.

We’re market leaders who set industry standards. All our design and manufacturing are carried out under ISO9001:2015 quality procedures. Everyone at Hutchinson Engineering is committed to delivering excellence, starting with our MD, Dean Drinkwater, a member of the British Safety Council’s Manufacturing Safety Interest Group.

Our manufacturing
facilities

Built for big challenges

Hutchinson Engineering’s modern fabrication and welding facilities cover a total of more than 8000m2, with offices, storage and manufacturing space over three sites. Our facilities are built and designed to give us the capacity to undertake complex, large-scale projects.

Quayside location

Our 1200m2 quayside fabrication facility has direct access to the Irish Sea, allowing sea transport for structures that are too large for road transportation. We manufacture from scratch at this facility – and fabricate from assemblies manufactured at our other facilities.

Paint and blast

We have two fully temperature-controlled paint and blast facilities, the largest of which measures 32m long by 6m high and wide. The other is situated at our Quayside location at the Port of Garston, allowing direct sea transport of larger painted items.

Cutting-edge profiling

We have full laser and plasma profile cutting capability, using the latest technologies to cut up to 100mm think plate. And we have one of the UK’s largest plasma tube cutters, which can cut box section and tube up to 1200mm in diameter.

Rigorous testing

Our RF rigging and test facility includes a dedicated large test chamber and 2000m2 workshop for the installation of complete RF systems, including, fibre and DC power. Testing is carried out by in-house or third-party experts, as required.

State-of-the-art machinery

We have extensive machining capabilities for fabrication, welding, profiling, tube cutting, plate rolling, submerged ARC welding, non-destructive testing and more. Our in-house CNC machining facility includes the latest HAAS lathes and vertical boring machines.
